The build path

Build it from a clean slate.

I am building a startup practice and running an acquisition at the same time, so this is lived, not theory. Building gives you total control of culture, brand, and systems. The trade is a slower ramp and real nerve in the early months. Here is how to do it with eyes open.

When building is the right call

  • You want to set the culture and brand from day one, your way.
  • The market you want has no good practice to buy, or prices are out of line.
  • You can stomach a slower revenue ramp in exchange for full control.
  • You want to run build and buy in parallel, where the build can carry culture and even cover staffing for the buy.

What we cover together

Site selection and the de novo plan, financing a startup, the ramp and how to survive it, and how building and buying can reinforce each other inside one portfolio. Same two ways to work as the acquisition path: I can invest alongside you, or you pay a flat advisory fee.
